The War within our Borders: American Injustice
Americans gravitate to war. We are a society that immediately responds to and embraces
war. History reminds us that war is part of who we are and what we represent; good fighting
evil. The past 100 years have included World War I, World War II, Korea, Vietnam, and the war
on Terrorism. War is the financial foundation for our economy; it bailed us out of many
recessions and even the Great Depression. Until Vietnam America would take our best and
brightest and send them to fight and die for others. Once the public began to rebel against our
involvement in Vietnam new wars had to be created that did not pose a threat to our citizens,
economy, and the American psyche.
To ensure this economic security domestic wars were created that encouraged the
economy and continued job growth; which gave Americans the good feeling of making positive
contributions to protect and improve society. Our political experts in Washington recognized the
need to distance themselves from the negativity of conventional wars and created positive
domestic wars; ironic that I use politicians, positive, and war together.
What did these domestic wars create? More laws. More federal drug and border agents.
More federal and state prisons. More prison guards and staff members. More federal and state
courts. More parole and probation officers. More drug rehabilitation programs. More social
programs. More, more, more which requires the final more…more money from taxpayers.
Domestic wars created an affirmative public mindset that drove the economic machine by
attacking the evils of drugs, poverty, illiteracy, and crime. These wars and laws motivated
masses into believing they were protected while demonizing drug users and traffickers.
These domestic changes began in the early 1970’s and continued until 2015; the great
awakening that American justice was actually an injustice system. Positive shifts in the legal
system began during the 1960’s with civil rights visionary Dr. Martin Luther King. Laws and
