OPENING YOUR NEW DUNKIN’ DONUTS LOCATIONS
Introduction
The Dunkin’ Donuts philosophy is to make and serve the freshest, most delicious
coffee and donuts quickly and courteously in modern, well-merchandised stores (Dunkin’
Brands). This philosophy came straight from founder Mr. Rosenberg. Five years after Dunkin’
Donuts opened its doors, the franchise legacy was born. To date, Dunkin’ Donuts has more than
11,300 restaurants worldwide.
I have inhabited our values of integrity honesty, respectfulness, transparency, humility,
responsibility and fairness as manager for the past two years in the Midwest of a Dunkin’ Donuts
store. My store is the top performing store out of twenty stores my boss owns. Performing
exceptionally, I have recognized for my skills in job coaching, managing, leading, training, and
staffing by being promoted to District Manager. I am excited and anxious to enter my new role.
Managers create structures within business organizations to facilitate the operations of
their institutions. The structure of the organization consists of individual jobs that are combined
into departments to create “the skeleton of the organizational system” (Steers, Ungson, &
Moqday, 1985). As a newly promoted District Manager, I will be responsible for the structuring,
operations and staffing for five new Dunkin’ Donuts locations scheduled for opening in two
years. Having complete autonomy and authority over these new stores will ensure I have a major
position in this growth expansion. This paper will demonstrate my chosen plan for organizational
design, job design, training and performance appraisal process and my recruiting strategy as the
new District Manager for Dunkin’ Donuts.
